I have delivered tangible results by securing </span><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);"><strong>$3 million</strong></span><span style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);"> for housing upgrades at Keith Plaza, </span><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);"><strong>$50,000</strong></span><span style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);"> to strengthen community resources at Kelly Towers Senior Center, and fought for tax freezes for over <strong>15,000</strong> seniors in our community. Together with Governor Hochul, I secured an historic <strong>$140 million</strong> investment in St. Barnabas Hospital, which will focus on expanding space and improving patient care. I’ve also supported the redevelopment of the historic Kingsbridge Armory. The redevelopment, backed by a <strong>$215 million</strong> investment from local and federal stakeholders, is projected to generate <strong>$2.6 billion</strong> in economic impact, create over <strong>3,000</strong> construction jobs, and provide <strong>360</strong> permanent jobs.</span></p><small><h4 style="text-align: right;">But there is still more work to do.</h4><p></p></small><p style="text-align: right;">From <strong>“No House to the Assembly House,”</strong> my mission has always remained the same: to fight for those too often left behind and help build a stronger, safer, and more equitable future for every family in our district.</p><p style="text-align: left;"><br></p>

The Bodega Act aims to strengthen neighborhood safety, support small business owners, and provide workers with additional tools to respond to emergencies and criminal activity.</h4><h3>CREEP ACT</h3><h4><strong>George Alvarez believes that every New Yorker has the right to feel safe out on the streets of their city, indoors in the comfort of their home, and digitally on their phones. &nbsp;Which is why he is in full support of the </strong><a href="https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S3394/amendment/A" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Ceasing Repeated and Extremely Egregious Predatory Behavior Act (CREEP Act) S3394A</strong></a><strong>, a bill that modernizes older anti-stalking bills by allowing victims to obtain civil anti-stalking orders against harassers, even if they have no prior intimate or familial relationship with the perpetrator. This legislation will expand inspections in childcare facilities and require providers of a family day care home to disclose those residing in the home where the child day care is being provided. The bill will also prepare these facilities for emergencies by requiring that child care providers receive overdose prevention training and maintain opioid antagonists on-site.&nbsp;</h4><h3>Improving Safety for Pedestrians</h3><h4>George Alvarez introduced bill <a href="https://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A03725&amp;leg_video=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>A03725</strong></a> to strengthen safety regulations for electric scooters, mopeds, and electric bicycles. The bill will improve safety enforcement by <strong>requiring registration </strong>and increasing public education on traffic laws. The bill also establishes a Safe Streets Bureau to help prevent reckless operation, protect pedestrians, and improve safety on roads and sidewalks across New York.</h4><p><strong><br></strong></p>

George has since vowed to continue to solidify investments for the 160 year old institution.</h4><p></p><h3>Protecting Access to Medical Transportation</h3><h4>Reliable and affordable transportation to healthcare centers is essential for ensuring that people are getting the healthcare they need at the exact time they need it. George Alvarez introduced <a href="https://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A03898&amp;leg_video=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">bill A03898</a>, which if passed will help ensure that providers of non-emergency medical transportation are not unfairly penalized for errors commited during Medicaid audits. This legislation aims to protect transportation providers that connect patients to critical medical appointments.</h4><h3>Expanding Accountability in Correctional Healthcare</h3><h4>George Alvarez introduced <a href="https://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A07576&amp;leg_video=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">bill A07576A</a>, which intends to improve health transparency within the prison system by requiring correctional facilities to notify incarcerated people’s emergency contacts if they experience a medical crisis. The bill will also expand access to medical records and establish an annual report on medical incidents and response times. He also wants to make in-home care more accessible to all families</h4><h3>Strengthening Healthcare Access for Dominican Seniors</h3><h4>As an Afro-Dominican and strong advocate for New York's Dominican community, George Alvarez introduced the New York–Dominican Health Partnership Act <a href="https://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?default_fld=&amp;leg_video=&amp;bn=A09169&amp;term=&amp;Summary=Y&amp;Text=Y" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">(A09169B)</a>. This legislation establishes a partnership between New York State and the Dominican Republic that would allow eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities who reside part-time in the Dominican Republic to access certain state-funded healthcare services. The bill also explores broader healthcare collaboration between New York and the Dominican Republic, helping ensure continuity of care for New Yorkers with deep ties to both communities.<strong><br></strong><br></h4>

This bill promotes economic equity and strengthens underserved communities by creating pathways for job growth and long-term financial empowerment across New York State.</h4><h3>“End the Toll Trap: Real Relief for Drivers Act”</h3><h4><a href="https://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A10716&amp;leg_video=" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">“End the Toll Trap: Real Relief for Drivers Act” (A10716)</a> is bipartisan, bi-state (New York and New Jersey) legislation that aims to protect commuters and motorists from predatory E-ZPass fines. Through this bill, George Alvarez aims to reduce excessive toll-related administrative fees, improve transparency in toll collection systems, and protect drivers from unfair penalties caused by billing errors and system failures. <p>By Jimmy Robles</p><p></p><p>In an effort to reduce crime in convenience stores across New York City, a Bronx state lawmaker has introduced the Bodega Act of 2025, a measure that would provide grants to small businesses for panic buttons and surveillance equipment.</p><p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://nyassembly.gov/leg/?default_fld=&amp;leg_video=&amp;bn=A07870&amp;term=&amp;Summary=Y&amp;Actions=Y&amp;Committee%26nbspVotes=Y&amp;Text=Y" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">New York State Bodega Act of 2025</a>, introduced by Bronx Assemblymember George Alvarez last month, would direct the Division of Criminal Justice Services to establish a grant program supporting security upgrades for bodegas, food marts, and similar small retail establishments.</p><p>The proposed legislation aims to enhance protections for these businesses by covering the costs of installing emergency alert systems and other safety infrastructure.
